How I Turned My Passion for Candles into a Business

What started as a simple love for candles slowly turned into something much more meaningful—something I never expected would bloom into a business rooted in family, heart, and home.

I’ve always been drawn to scent. The way a fragrance can stir a memory, shift your mood, or transform an ordinary space into something special—it fascinated me. But it wasn’t until I learned what was actually in many store-bought candles that everything changed. I didn’t want harsh chemicals in my home, especially around my loved ones. That realization lit the very first spark of what would become GiAROMA Candle Company.

At first, it was just for me. I began experimenting with clean ingredients—100% soy wax, cotton wicks, phthalate-free fragrance oils—and quickly discovered that hand-pouring candles became my creative escape. It was meditative, therapeutic, and most of all, joyful. Friends and family began asking for them. Then neighbors. Then friends of neighbors. That’s when I realized: maybe this could be something more.

Naming the business came easily. “GiAROMA” is a tribute to my granddaughter, who inspires me to build something meaningful and lasting. Every candle I pour is rooted in love, tradition, and a commitment to quality—just like the kind of home I want her to grow up in.

Starting a business wasn’t easy, especially doing it solo. I’ve had to learn everything from scent blending to website design, product photography to shipping logistics. But every challenge has been worth it. Watching someone smile when they find their scent—that moment when a candle speaks to them—that’s what keeps me going.

GiAROMA isn’t just about candles. It’s about creating a space where people feel safe, cozy, and seen. It’s about clean ingredients, beautiful design, and meaningful connection. And it’s about showing that sometimes, the smallest spark of passion can lead you to your purpose.
